Renowned singer Cornell Haynes Jr., also known as Rapper Nelly was arrested by the authorities on Saturday after a woman accused him of raping her on his Florida tour bus. The rapper was taken into custody on second-degree rape charges.
According to the Seattle criminal defense attorney, Nelly was released after the initial investigation without any criminal charges being filed against him.
According to the reports, a woman called 911 hours after Nelly’s performance at the White River Amphitheatre in King County and accused Nelly of sexua-lly assaulting her on a tour bus. Patrol officers did a follow-up investigation soon after the phone call was made and took Nelly into custody.

Rapper Nelly took it to Twitter soon after his release and made a series of tweets clarifying his position on the whole episode. Nelly tweeted to thank his followers, fans, friends and family for their support and apologized them for the embarrassment that might have been caused due to the whole episode. In one of his tweets, Nelly claimed that the charges imposed on him are false and baseless and vowed that he will use all legal options to come out of the situation. He also hinted of filing a defamation claim once he is cleared of the charges. He also announced that he has been released after interrogation without any charges and did not need to apply for a bail.
Nelly’s lawyer and Seattle’s defense attorney, Scott Rosenblum, has also issued a statement clearing his stance and has claimed that the entire case is baseless and will not stand any chance in the court of law. Rosenblum, who happens to be one of the top lawyers in town, accused that the false accusations are driven by greed and vindictiveness. The Criminal Defense Attorney of Seattle has challenged the credibility of the case and is positive that Nelly will be vindicated. He claimed that he is confident that Nelly will be cleared of all the charges once the matter is thoroughly investigated. He also reiterated that all legal avenues will be used to redress the false charges and file for a defamation suit. The defense attorney is positive that Nelly will be able to perform in his next concert that is scheduled to take place on Octorber 12 in Jacksonville.
Rapper Nelly is one of the top-selling artists in the United States with a large fan following. In the past, he has also been booked for being in possession of addictive drugs including marijuana and weapons on a highway. The three-time Grammy Awards winner is currently on tour with Florida Georgia Lines and was scheduled to perform in Ridgefield, Washington on Saturday night but was taken into custody earlier after 911 received an emergency call to report physical assault. She accused Nelly of raping her on the tour bus, which was allegedly parked near a local Walmart store at the time of the incident. He has currently dropped out from the gig following the accusation and said he is shocked over the sudden turn of the events and the way he has been falsely accused.
